Job Summary
The Legal Assistant is mainly responsible for the preparation, filing, serving and follow-up of legal documents, conducting searches and the recording of documents.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepares weekly work plan for submission to the Principal Legal Officer and Senior Legal Assistant.
- Prepares and files unpaid National Insurance Certificates, unpaid Severance, Affidavits and Judgement Notes.
- Serves unpaid National Insurance Certificates, unpaid Severance Certificates and Garnishee Orders and Writs of Summons on delinquent employers, self-employed persons and third parties.
- Files Judgement Summons, Orders Memoranda of Satisfaction and other court documents as necessary.
- Conducts legal searches.
- Checks to ensure that unpaid National Insurance Certificates and unpaid Severance Certificates are entered in the SAP database.
- Calculates information from surveys for the preparation of unpaid National Insurance Certificates, unpaid Severance Certificates, Judgement Summons and other court processes.
Requirements
- An Associate degree in Para-Legal Studies and not less than three years’ relevant experience.
Skills and other attributes desired
- A basic knowledge of Court procedures.
- Sound Human Relations skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Ability to work well under pressure.
- Attentiveness to detail.
